Future internet industry leaders in panel with O’Donnell at FI-week, Budapest, May 17, 2011

Future Internet PPP gained high-level visibility at FI-week when panel participants discussed program launch and expectations for the future internet landscape. Panel was chaired by Peter O’Donnell (European voice) opened by Mário Campolargo (European Commission DG INFSO), and included high-level representation of Telefonica D&I, ATOS Origin, and the programs use case projects Outsmart and Smart Agrifood. Participants agreed on vital importance of SME, user and regional perspectives when taking European to the next generation of Internet.

The different use cases of the program provide a real market potential and user perspectives. Panel highlighted the openness of the innovation activity as mission critical to guarantee delivery of program results. To take one example among many, Smart Agrifood project offers prototyping for the entire traditional food chain and serves the European interest of especially those actors who would not otherwise have the resources for such experimentation.
